Former Arsenal midfielder/winger Robert Pires is back to at Arsenal. This time to make use of the gunners’ training facilities in order to keep fit. The former French national team player was part of the all conquering invincibles.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been talking about the player and he claims Pires training with Arsenal can only be a good thing as the experience of the player can only rob off on Arsenal’s youngsters.
“Of course, it is a great opportunity,” said Wenger.
“He practises with the young players with the under-21 team and I feel always there is no better education than playing with players at that age with top-level players.”
However, Wenger has dismiss claims the player he will likely sign the player for the gunners on a temporary deal like he did when former striker Thierry Henry joined the gunners after training with them for couple of weeks.
“Robert Pires will not join us, he was born in 1973, but is still very fit and a great player.
“We are always happy to have him in training, but just occasionally comes in to practise.”
